There had been numerous disasters on the earth last year. Wildfires in Australia and California, locust plagues in Africa, melting of Antarctic glaciers, floods in China, global epidemics, etc. have made people realize that the earth is facing a severe ecological crisis, and it is urgent to protect our natural environment. Today is Arbor Day, let us once again emphasize the importance of protecting nature. The founder of the Eden Reforestation Project, Pastor Steve Fitch, realized that Christians not only have the mission of saving souls, but also the mission of saving nature and managing the earth. Planting trees not only repairs the lungs of the earth, reduces the carbon dioxide in the air, but also slows down global warming. The goal of the Eden Reforestation Project is to plant at least 500 million trees yearly by 2025 and hopefully to resolve the poverty for those poor countries by planting trees.
God has given us everything on the earth (Genesis 1:28-30). He not only cares about the people He created, but also the land He gave us. We must cherish all creatures on the earth to honor our Creator. Dear Father, thank you for allowing us to enjoy your wonderful creation. Please give us wisdom on how to become good housekeepers and to manage all you have created. May everything you created reminds us of your grace, love, and salvation.
Wail, O pine tree, for the cedar has fallen; the stately trees are ruined! Wail, oaks of Bashan; the dense forest has been cut down! – Zechariah 11:2
