Slow for a reason

It is said that the slowest-moving mammals in the world are “sloths”. Because of their slow nature, they do not get reactions easily. The Bible tells us that God is the ultimate example of going slow—when it comes to anger. What about us? Do you often lose patience and get upset easily because of the work stress and busy routines? In Nehemiah, we learn that God patiently endured the constant rebellion, unbelief, doubt, and complaint of His people for 40 years because of His great compassion. How forgiving is God’s heart! The Book of James (1:19-20) reminds us, “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.” Lord! Thank You for your abundant love and grace, please have mercy on our weakness, and help us to stay calm and steady, be gentle, be slow to anger, have self-discipline, and be joyful because of your love, whether in good times or bad times. Amen!

“You are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.” – Nehemiah 9:17
