Blossom

ChanHua, silk wrapped flowers

“Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.”
— Ezekiel 37:5-6

This was God’s promise to the captivated Israelites in Babylon – the promise of a new life in the depths of their despair. Dear brothers and sisters, does this sound familiar to your daily lives? Have the challenges of our reality crushed and drained us, leaving us defeated and too weary to begin afresh? Take a moment to remember our heavenly Father has promised to breathe life into us – He has not left us alone in our despair, He has promised to restore sinews and flesh upon our dry bones, to breath into us and give us a new life.

This was the reminder God gave me when I saw my sister’s creation of blossom, when she sat for hours by the dried-up branch she picked up from nowhere and hung up by strings to create those delicate little flowers, restoring life and beauty to the dead branch. Are we not much more precious to God than a random branch to my sister? God will restore life and beauty to our lives in His own glory and magnificence.
